Aillas’ First Few Months

Ailla was born 11^th July 2006. She is a Liver & White English Springer Spaniel from working stock as opposed to show stock. Her name is Cornish and means “most beautiful”.

She was bred by Mr B Yates from his working bitch Ellie (Stone Road Rosie). The Sire was Edgegrove Entitle a well known Field Trial Champion. Ailla’s pedigree can been seen by following this link.

 I collected her from the litter at seven weeks old. Considering the length of the journey, I had to drive up to Droitwich, Warwickshire from Poole in Dorset, we had a remarkably uneventful journey home. I had my lab, Lucy, in the Trans K9 transport crate so, even though they were separated in the crate by the divider, the pup did not feel too isolated.

 Once home she settled in well and soon got used to being kept in a cage overnight and for short periods during the day. This is the first pup that I have used the cage method and must admit I am a bit of a convert now and would recommend it.
At first she was a little reserved but soon became quite a bold little pup to the extent that she is now leading Lucy, my lab, a dogs life. She does not leave poor Lucy alone, constantly trying to play fight with her.

She is almost 4 months old at the time of writing this. During the time she has been with me she has grown into quite a wilful little pup but quite willing to learn. She will soon start training in earnest and hopefully will be trained and ready for working to the gun and beating by the end of 2007.
